ICEbreaker News Briefs: Detention, Deportation, and Resistance
đ¶ Supreme Court agrees to hear arguments in Trumpâs birthright citizenship challenge
The Supreme Court of the United States has agreed to review a landmark challenge to Donald J. Trumpâs 2025 executive order that would end automatic birthright citizenship for children born in the U.S. to parents without legal status or only temporary status. If upheld, the order would overturn a doctrine rooted in the 14th Amendment and long-standing precedent that grants citizenship to nearly everyone born on U.S. soil â regardless of parental immigration status. Multiple lower courts had blocked the order, ruling it unconstitutional; now the high court will decide whether those rulings stand. Oral arguments are expected in spring 2026, with a decision likely by the end of the term. â NPR
đ„ Tacoma detainee, set to be deported, lost toe suffering under ICE care
A detained man at the Tacoma immigration facility suffered a severe health crisis â he was hospitalized and ultimately had a toe amputated after reportedly being denied timely medical care while in ICE custody. His attorney says he suffered from serious conditions, including anemia and internal bleeding, before treatment was finally provided. Advocates warn his case illustrates a broader pattern of neglect and medical mistreatment in immigration detention centers. â The Seattle Times
âïž Wisconsin Supreme Court to decide whether local jails can hold immigrants for ICE
Wisconsinâs highest court has agreed to review a landmark lawsuit from ACLU of Wisconsin and Voces de la Frontera that challenges whether local jails may honor ICE detainer requests. The lawsuit argues that holding individuals beyond their scheduled release â without a judicial warrant â constitutes a new illegal civil arrest under state law. The courtâs decision to take the case directly could lead to a final ruling by mid-2026, potentially reshaping how state and local law enforcement cooperate with federal immigration enforcement. â Associated Press
đșđž U.S. Veteran Stars In Anti-ICE Ad Aimed At People âExposed Toâ DHS Propaganda
A 25-year-old U.S. Army veteran named George Retes features in a new ad campaign by Home of The Brave that criticizes a large recruitment push by ICE under the current administration. Retes recounts being wrongfully detained â pepper-sprayed and held for in detention despite being a citizen â an experience he calls a wake-up call to hold enforcement agencies accountable. The ad aims to challenge the idea that ICE recruitment is patriotic, arguing instead that it risks repeating abuses against U.S. citizens and immigrants alike. â HuffPost

Urgent Calls to Action to hold ICE accountable:
When leaders escape accountability, it signals that powerânot justiceârules, eroding trust, fueling corruption, and opening the door to authoritarianism. Billionaire-backed justices and elites aren't serving the peopleâtheyâre scheming to suppress our voices, strip away our rights, and rule over us. But progress and power to the people is more than an idea; itâs a movement. By standing up, speaking out, and demanding dignity, opportunity, and justice for all, we can build an America that truly lives up to its promise.

ICEbreaker News: The Fight to End Cruelty, Detention, and Fear
ICE isnât just a rogue agencyâitâs part of a larger system of state violence that targets immigrants, tears families apart, and undermines our most basic human rights. Empowered by far-right lawmakers, ICE operates with impunity, weaponizing fear and surveillance to criminalize entire communities.
Fueled by anti-immigrant hate and backed by extremist agendas, ICE's operations reflect a broader push toward authoritarianism. Mass raids, indefinite detentions, secretive deportations, and collaboration with local police all feed into a system designed to intimidate, control, and erase. These tactics donât make us saferâthey make us less free.
ICEâs Pattern of Harm Includes:
Targeting immigrant families through mass raids and surveillance
Detaining asylum seekers in inhumane, for-profit facilities
Collaborating with local law enforcement to bypass sanctuary protections
Abusing detainees and violating basic rights and due process
Using fear to silence communities and suppress dissent
Advancing policies rooted in xenophobia and white nationalism
We Must Act:
ICE is not just enforcing lawsâitâs violating them. Itâs time to dismantle the cruelty, end the detentions, and protect our communities. We must organize, resist, and demand a future rooted in dignity, justice, and liberation for all.
Join us. Speak out. Hold ICE accountable. Together, we can break the cycle of fear.
