No More Blank Checks: Power to the People, Not Cruelty by Design

Freedom over fascism means drawing a clear moral line—and drawing it now. No more blank checks. No more kidnapping our community members. No more killing people in detention or ripping children from school drop-offs. No more intimidation, threats, or profiteering by an agency that breaks the law day in and day out.

ICE is still detaining people in places like Alligator Alcatraz, and the body count in detention continues to rise while reports of abuse and coercion mount—pepper-spraying, beatings, threats to force deportations, and deporting people to places they cannot even navigate. This is not policy failure—this is cruelty by design.

We must also confront a stark political reality: there is a real possibility that ICE will be rewarded, not reined in, this year. Many Republican members of Congress are already positioned to give ICE more money and more pats on the back because that is who they are. Unfortunately, several Democrats have also sided with Republicans on immigration enforcement funding or are considering backing bills that increase money for ICE without meaningful oversight. All members of Congress need to hear from us—every day, every Call, every message until the vote. These are dangerous times, but we do have the power to move mountains if we act together with urgency, clarity, and solidarity.

When we say no more money for ICE, let’s be clear: this is not about opposing safe and secure borders—we all want safety. It’s about refusing to fund abuse, terror, and lawlessness. Not one more penny for ICE unless these atrocities end, full accountability is enforced, and every dollar of taxpayer money is transparently tracked and answered for.

Masked federal agents are unleashing violence in our cities and neighborhoods—most tragically seen in the January 7 fatal shooting of 37-year-old mother Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, a U.S. citizen killed near her home shortly after dropping off her child at school. This incident has sparked outrage across the country and intensified demands for restraint, oversight, and accountability.

This is not the America we deserve. This is not an agency we can trust with unchecked power or limitless funds. Congress already gave DHS an unprecedented blank check; giving even more money with no guardrails will only escalate family separations, the terrorization of communities, and deaths in custody—32 deaths last year alone, the deadliest year on record.

Today, instead of our usual headlines, we want to draw your attention to an important nationwide action happening this weekend: ICE Out for Good.

At People Power United, we support safe and orderly borders that respect the dignity and humanity of those who live here and those seeking asylum. What’s broken is not the immigrant who has lived and worked in this country for 5, 10, or even 30 years—raising families, contributing to their communities, following the rules, filing paperwork, attending check-ins, and waiting year after year for a system that never delivers. What’s broken is a government that has failed to fix an immigration system riddled with delays, shifting rules, a shortage of judges, no legal help, and rampant abuse.

While Congress stalls, immigrants wait decades. Lawyers exploit desperate clients. Private detention companies profit from human suffering. And ICE raids homes in the middle of the night—stripping people of dignity, using force and fear, and deporting them to countries they may not know. Blaming immigrants for this chaos is wrong. The responsibility lies with a government that has ignored Dreamers, asylum seekers, and immigrants, underfunded the courts, allowed profiteering, and weaponized surveillance against the very people who call America home.

That’s why actions like ICE Out for Good matter—and why we must keep showing up for justice, accountability, and humanity.

▶️ We are outraged by the killing of Renee Nicole Good by ICE. She was a 37 year old wife and mother of three children who loved to sing and studied creative writing and she was shot in the face by an ICE agent. We grieve her death and the deaths of all those killed in ICE detention.

▶️ ICE has been escalating its cruel deployments into our communities. This recent killing is not an isolated incident, but the devastating and predictable result of ICE’s lawless operations and President Trump’s abuse of power.

▶️ ICE and CBP have endangered our communities. Our neighbors fear for their livelihoods and their lives, and our communities are less safe. We won’t stand for it.

▶️ We demand accountability for the killing and an end to ICE and CBP raids. We will not sit by while violence goes unanswered and our communities are terrorized.

We will meet ICE’s violence with steadfast nonviolence and lawful protest.

ICEbreaker News: The Fight to End Cruelty, Detention, and Fear

ICE is not an aberration—it is a warning. It is the enforcement arm of a political agenda that rules through fear, dehumanization, and punishment. Under the protection of far-right power, ICE has been unleashed to target immigrants, fracture families, and trample basic human rights. This is not law and order. It is authoritarian control dressed up as policy.

What we are witnessing is a deliberate strategy. Raids meant to terrorize. Detentions designed to break spirits. Deportations carried out in secrecy. Collaboration with local police to override sanctuary protections. Every tactic is intentional, and every one pushes us further away from democracy and closer to fascism. These actions do not create safety—they normalize cruelty and erode freedom for everyone.

ICE’s System of Abuse Includes:

• Raiding homes and workplaces to instill fear in immigrant communities

• Jailing asylum seekers in inhumane, profit-driven detention centers

• Circumventing sanctuary laws through police cooperation

• Denying due process and committing routine human rights violations

• Silencing communities through intimidation and surveillance

• Enforcing policies rooted in racism, xenophobia, and white nationalism

The Path Forward Is Resistance.

ICE is not simply enforcing laws—it is enforcing injustice. And injustice must be confronted, not managed. The answer is not more cages or more funding. The answer is people power: organizing, demanding accountability, and dismantling systems built on harm.
